Since the 1992 launch of the PR firm that bears his name, Jack Horner has provided public relations and marketing communications strategy and programming to hundreds of clients from Fortune 500 companies to mid-size corporations to nonprofit organizations.
Before starting Jack Horner Communications Inc. (JHC), Jack worked in the PR department of a publicly traded waste hauling and environmental firm, which ultimately was acquired by Waste Management. Subsequently, Jack spent several years as an account executive with Ketchum, working on a variety of consumer, business-to-business and crisis communications accounts.
Trading his multinational agency experience to start a full-service independent agency more than 17 years ago, JHC today offers a breadth and depth of communications services that rivals the mega-firms, but with a creative, boutique culture.
Jack has led his public relations and marketing communications teams at JHC to the top of the industry. The agency has been cited by the Pittsburgh Business Times consistently as the number-one regional firm. In Philadelphia, JHC is ranked among the top-20 leading public relations firms by the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Jack is an accredited member of the public relations profession, having earned certification from PRSA more than a decade ago, and is a longtime member of the PRSA National Counselors Academy.
He’s been involved in a variety of professional associations, including PRSA’s Pittsburgh and Philadelphia chapters; and the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) in both Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. In 1999, Jack was named public relations executive of the year by the Business Marketing Association. Jack has served as past president of PRSA Pittsburgh and currently serves as president of PRSA Philly.
Jack is a frequent guest speaker to communications students at his alma mater, Penn State University, as well as Westminster College, the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University.
